Bio

Diego Esquivel [ctrl_v] is a Costa Rican artist who focuses on visual arts that primarily involve projections, technology, spatial interventions, sound, and interactivity.

I began experimenting with video mixing and real-time graphic composition in 2007, and shortly thereafter, founded Metamind Visual together with Abraham Soria.

Our work initially found a place in the electronic music scene, where we managed to carve out a space for ourselves through live visual performances.

Over time, we incorporated new techniques such as video mapping, generative art, and interactive elements. This allowed us to expand our artistic scope to fields such as architecture, dance, theater, music, and multidisciplinary events, carrying out projects in countries such as Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, England, the United States, and Mexico.

My involvement with Metamind Visual culminated in the production of the award-winning piece for the IBERESCENA program, the multidisciplinary work *Casa Tomada*, for which I served as artistic director and curated the intervention proposals submitted by the various members of the project.

I currently create my artistic work under the name [ctrl_v], through which I have been able to exhibit video mapping projects in France, Japan, Iceland, and Italy (1st place at GlowFestival 2016), venture into teaching, establish a presence in Costa Rica through open calls for video mapping projects (Casa Verde – Amón Cultural 2018), and at the same time experiment with different techniques in motion graphics, augmented reality, and virtual reality.
