Hello World!
Description
The piece is an augmented reality installation that depicts a specific experience I had after receiving an invitation to visit a virtual art gallery. After several weeks of being confined to my home due to the pandemic, I found it extremely appealing to break out of my imposed routine and meet someone else, even if it was in a virtual space. What I hadn’t anticipated was that interacting in the virtual world would make me realize that my pre-COVID reality had changed and that something as basic as the way I interact face-to-face with other people had been reprogrammed.
In computer science, a "Hello World!" program is one that displays the text "Hello, world!" on a display device, most often a monitor screen. This program is often used as an introduction to learning a programming language; it is a typical first exercise and is considered essential from an educational standpoint. [1]
